Yesterday Vegas and I officially celebrated her birthday since I didn't have to work. We still slept in and once we got up I began preparations for "pupcakes" for her. I've included some pictures below.
What baking project is complete without licking off the spatula?
Peanut butter tongue!
And of course, the licking of the bowl.
Once the cupcakes were done and cooling, we headed out for a hike. We left Leo at home and headed to the Linear Trail. This is a lovely hike where you can traverse any number of miles on foot, by horseback, or bicycle. It's been a while since we went there and my goal was a nice place to walk in the beautiful fall weather. We've been very, very fortunate to have dry skies and mild temperatures which means we're doing everything we can to enjoy it while it lasts. The parking lot was fairly full when we got there so I didn't know how many people we would run into. There was a horse trailer leaving as well as one that remained.
Vegas and I set off and before we even crossed the main road to leave the parking area we crossed paths with two horse and riders.
Other than that we didn't see too many people. We mostly had bicyclists pass us going one way or the other and saw but one or two walking parties. This meant Vegas was able to be off leash the entire walk - much to her enjoyment and mine.

Weeeeee!!! Jumping is fun!
Sitting but clearly distracted.
The paths are nicely paved for miles.
"Hello...? Who goes there?"
Posing in the tree.
So not happy with posing with a silly headband on.
After our lovely walk we ran up the highway a little farther to Nature's Pet Market in Orenco Station. Vegas spent the entire time inside sniffing at all the food and treats while I had to figure out the perfect new toy.
All in all, I think the day was a hit. She sacked out shortly after we got home, only to rise when her tummy called for dinner. She slept hard last night and slept in late today. Will share the pupcakes a bit later today and photos of them all frosted and decorated. Happy 7th birthday, sweet Vegas. You look fabulous, dahling, and looking forward to many more.
